Note

In the procedure that follows, the example RPMs for RHEL 3.0 32-bit are used. If another OS is selected, substitute those filenames in the following procedure.

 

Log in to the Apache server as the root user. Obtain the RPMs select in step 1 from the web and place the files in the /tmp directory on the server.

 

  1. Execute the following command to check the current installation of the Apache Prtable Runtime on the server.
    # rpm -qa apr apr-util

    if the following two lines are listed, skip to step 6:
    apr-1.2.7-1.EL30
    apr-util-1.2.7-1.EL30
  2. Install APR 1.2.x on the server to support the Apache HTTPD installation
    # cd /tmp
    # rpm -ivh apr-1.2.7-1.EL30.i386.rpm apr-util-1.2.7-1.EL30.i386.rpm
  3. Change Directories to /tmp and install the Apache RPM:
    # cd /tmp
    # rpm -ivh httpd-2.2.2-4.EL30.i386.rpm
  4. Remove the installation files:
    # rm -f apr-1.2.7-1.EL30.rpm apr-util-1.2.7-1.EL30.i386.rpm httpd-2.2.2-4.EL30.i386.rpm
