Changelog

Every release of VMgenie, newest first. Each entry lists the release tag, the date it shipped, and a short summary of what changed.

September 2026

2.6.0 — Reseller self-service improvements

v2.6.0
  • Resellers can now create and assign dedicated physical servers to their own customers without operator intervention.
  • Per-user resource quotas (CPU, RAM, disk, IPv4, IPv6) enforced at the panel API; over-quota requests return a clear 422 instead of failing later in provisioning.
  • Dashboard stats card refreshes every 15s by default; the interval is configurable per user.
  • Fixed: serial console occasionally dropped the first 200 bytes of output after a VM reboot.

August 2026

2.5.0 — Faster template sync

v2.5.0
  • Template sync now runs in parallel across all servers in a pool; a 12-server pool finishes in roughly a third of the previous time.
  • Added support for incremental template updates — only the changed layers are re-downloaded.
  • VM creation screen shows estimated time-to-ready based on the selected template and server load.
  • Fixed: IPv6 pool exhaustion no longer blocks new VM creation; the API now returns a 409 with the offending pool.

June 2026

2.4.0 — Multitasking UI

v2.4.0
  • The VM detail page now opens the serial console, VNC viewer, and live usage graphs side-by-side in resizable panes.
  • Drag-and-drop reordering of the VM list; the order is persisted per user.
  • Quick actions (start, stop, reboot, reset password) available from the list view without opening the detail page.
  • Fixed: VNC viewer clipboard sync on Firefox.

April 2026

2.3.0 — IPv6 pool splitting

v2.3.0
  • Native IPv6 support: split an IPv6 allocation into smaller blocks and assign them to VMs.
  • Settings page now exposes IPv6 pool management alongside IPv4.
  • Reverse DNS (PTR) records for both IPv4 and IPv6 can be edited from the VM detail page.
  • Fixed: IPv6 routes occasionally not advertised to the VM after a live migration.

January 2026

2.2.0 — Physical server overview

v2.2.0
  • New physical server overview page: assignable resources (CPU, RAM, disk, IPs) at a glance.
  • Per-server template pools: restrict which OS templates a given physical server will host.
  • Server add flow now detects hardware and storage automatically after the install command is run; manual override is still available.
  • Fixed: usage reports from a server that was offline at the polling boundary could produce negative numbers.

October 2025

2.1.0 — Universal IPv4 gateway

v2.1.0
  • IPv4 works on every provider using the universal gateway 169.254.1.1 as a static route — VMs can be live-migrated between providers without reconfiguring the guest.
  • Per-VM network throughput graph in the dashboard.
  • Bulk actions on the VM list: start, stop, reboot, delete, move.
  • Fixed: a deleted VM's IP was occasionally not released back to the pool until a panel restart.

July 2025

2.0.0 — VMgenie 2.0

v2.0.0
  • Rewrite of the control panel on a new framework — every page is faster and the panel is now usable on small mobile screens.
  • Reseller accounts: invite a user, scope their resources, and let them self-serve without seeing other tenants.
  • New REST API at /api/v1 — the entire panel UI is a thin client over it.
  • Billing-aware limits: per-user plan caps on vCPU, RAM, disk, IPv4 and IPv6 are checked before VM creation.

March 2025

1.0.0 — Public release

v1.0.0
  • First public release of the VMgenie control panel.
  • Create and manage virtual servers (KVM-backed) through a web UI.
  • Physical server registration with a single install command.
  • Basic template management: upload, sync, and delete OS templates.
  • Single-tenant per panel instance.
